Pozole Season Has Arrived: Warm Up Your Fall with This Hearty Mexican Classic
As the crispness of fall settles in, there's one thing that always feels like a warm embrace — a big bowl of pozole rojo. This beloved Mexican dish becomes the star of family gatherings, festive celebrations, and cozy dinners at home. If you haven’t yet experienced the magic of this comforting soup, now is the perfect time to dive in and discover why it’s so much more than just a meal.
What Is Pozole Rojo?
Pozole is a traditional Mexican soup made with hominy corn, pork, and a rich, flavorful earthy chile-based red broth. The heartiness of the hominy and tender meat, combined with the smoky broth, makes for a dish that’s both comforting and vibrant. Our Pozole Rojo is served with sides of lettuce, radish, onion, cilantro, lime, sour cream, oregano, chile de arbol powder (if you want to spice it up) and crispy tostadas. Traditionally, we spread sour cream on the tostada and eat that seperately, and then put everything else directly in the soup. The crispy tostada with sour cream helps balance the spice as you eat the soup (if you made it extra spicy, extra spicy is optional).
What better way to enjoy the chilly weather than with a bowl of fresh, authentic pozole rojo?
This is a dish that embodies warmth, community, and the flavors of Mexico, all simmered together in one pot. Pozole Rojo is served daily at Epazote, come and enjoy a bowl with us.
